We are so glad that you are interested in being part of Christ United Methodist Church's 2017 Vacation Bible School. It's going to be an AMAZING adventure! This year's journey takes place June 26-30 , 9:00 am - noon. Stick with us as we go over a few details before we start creating.
We want to keep all our kids safe and ensure a week of fun for all. We appreciate you registering early so that we can plan our volunteer staffing appropriately and ensure we have supplies for all participants.
Please send a check to Christ Church, 800 Market St., Chapel Hill, NC 27516 and put your child's name/VBS in the memo line. If you prefer to pay by credit card, we will be able to accept credit cards onsite. (You can pay by credit on the first morning of VBS or stop by the office beforehand.)
Please read these important VBS policies before enrolling your child in Christ Church's 2017 Vacation Bible School. These policies are to ensure that your children are safe and well-cared for while they are at VBS. By registering your child for VBS, you are agreeing with each of these policies.
Your child must be FOUR (on or before 8/31/2017) to participate in VBS. If below this age, your child is welcome to be in the nursery on the days you volunteer to help with VBS.
If your child has any medical diagnoses or allergies, please make sure those issues are noted on your child's registration form. This is for your child's safety and to ensure that everyone has a positive VBS experience.
If your child has an extraordinary circumstance that would affect his/her group assignment, please let us know in the comment section of the registration form. Children will be placed in their groups according to their school grade.
This summer, your child will enjoy Maker Fun Factory, where they'll learn that they were created by God and built for a purpose. The 4 and 5 year olds (pre-K and rising kindergarteners) will be having a "Junior VBS" with age-appropriate crafts, games, and skits just for them in their own special area. Older children (1st-5th graders) will be in the regular VBS program and traveling throughout the church buildings for their activities.
You are a very important part of VBS, too! Volunteering at VBS is fun and you will see God working in amazing ways during this week. For a successful VBS experience, parent participation is essential. By sending your child to VBS, you agree to work a minimum of one shift at VBS. Please make sure that you complete the volunteer registration form for yourself after registering your child. There are weekend/weeknight slots available if needed; plus, we always need help to prepare for VBS. You will need to register early for those slots if you can't volunteer during VBS hours. We need people to volunteer as translators. If you are fluent in a language other than English, please let us know.
If you have younger children, a nursery is available during VBS hours that your child can stay in while you are volunteering. Please register any nursery children as a participant (Choose "nursery" as grade entering) so that we can plan our nursery staffing appropriately.
By sending your child to VBS or volunteering for VBS, you understand and agree that Christ Church volunteers may photograph or videotape you or your child's participation in VBS and use those photographs, images, and videos in CUMC publications, website, advertisement for future VBS programs, or other similar purposes.
Consent for Treatment:
By registering your child for VBS, you give permission for your child to be treated by VBS volunteers for minor injuries (scrapes, cuts, bee stings). Treatment will be limited to basic first aid. You agree that the VBS leaders may authorize emergency care in the event that the family doctor can't be contacted. Please make sure your child's personal physician and his/her phone number is listed on the registration form. If you do not have a personal physician for your child, please list 'none' in that space.
Please make sure that any food allergies or other pertinent allergies (i.e., bee stings) or any medical concerns are listed on your child's registration. If your child requires an Epi-Pen or inhaler, it will need to be labeled with your child's name and brought to the VBS nurse on the first day of VBS. A licensed nurse or physician needs to be onsite to administer the Epi-Pen and/or inhaler. No other medications will be kept or administered to your child during VBS. For the safety of all, children cannot keep their own medication on them during VBS.
Christ United Methodist Church has a Safe Sanctuary policy to help ensure that your child is safe while at any activity at Christ Church. We require that your child be signed in and out of VBS every day in the lobby (Narthex) of the church. Please bring a picture ID or your child's pick-up cards to pick-up your child each day. If your child will be going home with someone else after VBS, please list that person as an alternate pick-up on your child's registration or give them one of your child's pick-up cards. Otherwise, for your child's protection, your child will not be released to that person's care.
If you have any questions about the photo release, consent for treatment, release form, volunteering, or child participation policies, please contact Jane Reeb at 919.969.8820
