becoming saints together
This year, our whole church is focusing on Becoming Saints Together. Over the course of the year, we will highlight different spiritual practices that can help all of us grow closer to Christ and to one another as a church group. We will fill this page with resources (video and audio devotions, art, and scripture lessons) that will help your family follow along at home with what we are doing together.
prayer
in a culture that craves the big, the entertaining, the dramatic, and the shocking (sometimes literally), cultivating a life with space for silence and repetition is necessary for sustaining a life of faith.
-Tish Harrison Warren
People pray in all sorts of ways. From the orderly all-in-unison voices of an Anglican congregation reading the Book of Common Prayer to the unruly, tongue-speaking of a Pentecostal Church. From tongsung kido (look it up if you’re curious) to silent meditation. What do all of these types of prayer have in common? They are all intentional means of interacting with God through talking and listening. That’s what we mean by prayer. Maybe you pray often… maybe you find prayer difficult and awkward. No matter where you are in your journey with prayer, we can all grow. The following video gives an overview of the practice of prayer. The audio entries offer brief 2-minute devotional prayers for each day of the week (and an examen for the weekend). We hope your family finds these tools useful as we attempt to grow in our prayer lives together.
